Surviving Sickness: Your Guide to Replacing Uncertainty with Confidence

If there's one thing that is guaranteed with our little humans, it's sickness. But just because it's common doesn't mean it can't be overwhelming and upsetting.

We're all familiar with back-to-back sickness from childcare bugs or affectionate siblings getting too close when they're snotty. Before we know it, sickness has struck, and we're finding ourselves in the depths of managing life with unwell little humans.

Whether it's gastro, a rash you're unsure about or a virus, this usually means some level of sleep deprivation (for you both!) and exploring the depths of the internet for answers and advice.

Feeling anxious and questioning your intuition regarding sickness in your little one is normal. As parents, we move back and forth between "Am I overreacting?" and "My gut is telling me this might be more serious". Or "Can we wait this out till the morning?" and "Should this mean a late-night trip to the ED?".

We're here to put a stop to that back and forth. Our Sickness Course is designed to provide parents with the necessary knowledge to confidently handle unavoidable illnesses.

Who are my presenters?

We've assembled two accomplished and experienced experts to deliver clear, accurate and useful information to tackle sickness confidently.

Dr Lexi Frydenberg is a renowned general paediatrician specialising in caring for little ones. As both a Mum and paediatrician, Dr Lexi has seen first-hand the common sicknesses that parents face.

Nikki Jurcutz, Co-Founder of Tiny Hearts and a former paramedic, has first-hand experience responding to critically unwell children and comforting anxious parents during their moments of distress.

As parents themselves, Nikki and Rach know how important it is to have the knowledge and skills to recognise and respond to emergency situations with our children confidently.

FAQ

Find the most frequently asked questions about our Online Baby + Child First Aid Course below:

This course is suitable for parents of newborns to adolescents but is especially valuable for parents of babies and toddlers who can experience new and at times frequent illnesses.

A first aid course teaches immediate life-saving skills for emergencies like CPR and choking, while our course on surviving sickness focuses on common childhood illnesses like viruses and rashes and teaches you how to analyse the symptoms a child is having so that you can manage the sickness with the appropriate level of care, whether that be from calling an ambulance or managing at home. Both are important for parents' knowledge and safety.

Parents outside Australia can complete this course, and the information would still be valuable. However, if you decide to purchase from outside Australia, please remember that terminology, emergency numbers and healthcare system structures can vary significantly from country to country, and this course is written for an Australian audience. You should research the guidelines and contact numbers for your local area to ensure you are as prepared as possible to handle sickness with your little one.

Simple, Understandable and Wonderful!

The layout of the course is easy to use and topics are clear and quick to locate. The information in each topic is thoughtful and thorough for what families need. Of course there is information that is common knowledge to most (which is reassuring itself) but there was definitely plenty of new insights that will stick. The presentations by Nikki and Dr Lexi are professional, easy to follow and clearly spoken. Thank you ladies for providing this wonderful course!
